Eyeshadow Palettes: Revealed 2 from Coastal Scents

I love my Naked 2 palette, and I really loved the Marsala color found at Sephora a few years back. So imagine my sadness when the specialty pallette that I wanted from Pantone sold out before I could snap it up! I kept calling my local Sephora and I never managed to catch it in stock. Thankfully, this gave me those colors in matte and shimmer, plus dupes for my Naked 2 pallete at more than 50% off the price of the Urban Decay Version and is ALWAYS IN STOCK!! Great cost for great shadows. I use a primer to make the colors pop and last all day. Get yours here! :)

Makeup Mistakes AKA Underestimating Inexpensive Palettes

So underestimating palettes is a mistake. This is a Claire's palette from eons ago. The primer is Jessie's girl, a very inexpensive primer. I'd originally used Urban Decay primer but that seemed to muddy the color a bit. I forgot to photo it. This is a $7USD dollar palette. Vibrant and full, as much as the a far more expensive artist palette (Greater than $100USD) that I swatched at Sephora a while back. Do not judge a makeup by it's packaging. Go by quality, not price tag and don't be afraid to experiment!

UGH! It's now sold out! This is part of the reason I don't try to brag too much about my Sei Bella makeup too much. No matter how much they are loved, the limited editions are REALLY limited and unless you have a membership to Melaleuca, you can miss out really easily!

Pressed Pigments = Super easy to use eyeshadows.

Home pressed pigments

Top one to press is a pink shimmer mica, I have been dragging this around since my last bout of makeup creation. Beautiful shade, light with a purple shimmer finish. I got it as a mica tester back when I was formulating my own colors and I loved it.

Second pigment to press was an indie cosmetic creator from Fairfield from a consignment shop called The Rose, called TigerEye. It is a beautiful deep copper brown with a duochrome green effect. It reminds me of MAC Club and of a pigment I pressed earlier in my pigment adventures.

Third is called Lavender Dream. which has a beautiful silvery pearl effect and fourth is a highlighter/eye shadow called Swedish winter from yourMinerals Sweden. Gorgeous finishes.

The fifth is Nyx Ultra Pearl Mania in Oro, a gorgeous coppery brown that is simply divine. Opaque coverage,

The sixth is from The Rose, as well. A shimmery pink brown called Nude that swatches a bit more sheer than Oro. I misplaced it while photographing it and you can see it's next to the number 5 swatch. Meep!

Why press my pigments? I find loose minerals do not adhere to the skin well, and they are messy. I don't have time for that. Adding the binder to the also powder acts as an adhering agent, much like a very expensive primer. The one I use has 3 different silicones, lending a buttery texture to the pigments.

I use a 1 to 1 ratio with drops of binder and 91% alcohol to liquefy the pigments. I mix them up using a sanitized mini spatula and then I press into a godot (also known as an empty makeup tin), using tissue and a pressing tile or coin. I let it sit overnight so the alcohol evaporates. Voila! Gorgeous eyeshadows in the morning!

New store, beauty brands

My best friend took me to ultra to get my brows done in Overland Park, but though a series of unfortunate events, we wound up at a place I had never heard of. Beauty Brands. They didn't have a great cosmetics section but they were having a liter sale on all their shampoos and conditioners for 12 bucks each. I didn't get any of those but I got this Too Faced palette for summer called a la mode eyes. Very copper and coral. I also picked up a cuticle pusher from OPI, a buffer block and a container of nail polish remover. So I still (thankfully) have my brows and I got something new to try. And I have 10 beauty bucks to use if I come back here in August. :-)

FOTD: Fab Orange Crush

I was trying to come up with a summery look, and orange has been on my mind lately. I found a Claire's palette filled with orange golds and fiery reds. I used Red on the outer corner, bright yellow on the inner, a basic orange on the lid and in the crease and a dark bronze on my lash line.

Love & Beauty Forever 21 Smoky Eyeshadow Palette Black/Grey

I was feeling bored one night and ran across the Forever21 website. I hadn't actually shopped there before, but I found the clothes were quite cute. On a lark, I clicked on 'Beauty' and I found some palettes that struck me as very similar to the Urban Decay Naked Palettes and they were only 7 bucks each.

I am always keen to find cheap dupes and I am a sucker for neutrals. On Beautylish, someone asked me to swatch this palette, so here it is. I got the picture in natural full spectrum light and with the flash as well. I think that this palette is gorgeous.

I got most of them snapped. I am keeping half of them (and the one that got shattered and I had to repress the pigment). I will be doing swatches and looks of the day with them but I wanted to share. I managed to not get the creme blush I bought in there. *facepalm*

The eyeshadows are more fragile than I expected, but they are pretty smooth application wise.I used 91% alcohol to repair the few that got shattered during transit. I do suggest tossing out the applicators that are included and use your own brushes. I have heard okay things about the Love & Beauty Brushes, but I can't say for certain.

Tapered Blending Brush

For brushes, I have collected quite a few but today I am just talking about the Sigma E45. I recently acquired the Sigma E45 because I lost my favorite crease brush from Target that was discontinued. In a panic I searched Amazon.com because the Sigma site was temporarily sold out of the E45. It took a bit but I just fell in love.

The E45 is a smaller tapered crease brush than the others I have collected. I have to admit I was a bit nonplussed at first. It was a bit scratchy, shedding a bit and it was bleeding black dye. Remembering that it's natural hair, not synthetic I decided to treat it how I treat my hair. I washed it a few times with Garnier Fructis Daily 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner and now it is perfect. It is fantastic for targeting the crease and perfectly blending my midtone color. It's perfect for my deep set eyes.

I still spot clean with 91% alcohol, but I remember to wash it in 2 in 1 shampoo when I feel it's getting scratchy again.

I'll show pictures later of my eyeshadow for now, here's a picture of the actual brush.
